Alexis
Tissue Recipient
My 11-year-old daughter Alexis had a problem with the tendons of her knee. She could not run or play without the fear of her kneecap jumping over to the side of her leg. This was very painful and stressful for my little girl because she was afraid to do anything that might pop it out of place. It also involved her missing school and going to the emergency room again and again.
We decided on surgery to replace the tendon in her knee and are thankful for her tissue donor and their family. She has a new tendon that will keep her kneecap in place. She wears a full leg brace for now, but her physical therapy is going great. She can already bend her leg 90 degrees and put weight on it. We can see the small scar where she got her new tendon, and our family will never forget that my daughter can now walk and play without fear again because of this incredible gift from a tissue donor.
