Please don’t focus all your energy on what’s wrong, what’s broken, what’s bad. Things may not be perfect, but let’s be grateful for the opportunity to experience each day. My mother was a beautiful loving best mom in the whole world! She passed on 27 Aug 23, my spouse and I were driving from Nevada when my sister and dad called and let me know she was a donor and if I approve. She was my world and it tore me up but that’s what she wanted. She would want someone to benefit from anything she could provide.

Steven Welch

Steve was a kind generous man. He served in the US Marine Corps. His most recent employment was as a Staff Engineer at Honda. He enjoyed traveling to tropical destinations with his wife of 25 years. Together they raised their blended family of six children and 13 grandchildren. Steve was a giver and always had to ensure everyone was having a good time. He enjoyed taking their fur babies to their camper on the weekends; there was nothing he wouldn’t buy for those babies. He enjoyed spending time and making memories with his family and friends.

Steve passed away on August 14, 2023.

There are no perfect words for my husband’s last act of kindness. I know he wished to give more, but under the circumstances, he could not. I hope he really helped someone and whatever it was that was done, I pray that it worked and made someone else’s life a little easier and happier. Jared was a kind and generous soul who would give anything to help another in need. He was so very loved, smart, hardworking, and respected by many. We honor him every day in some small way and now rely on our memories as a family that was spent together for 23 years. My husband was taken way too soon, but my children and I find comfort in knowing he gave the greatest gift of all in the end. Peace and love to all families out there.

Shawn Dunakin

Shawn was taken from us at 48 years old, much too young. He had 5 beautiful daughters, a son, and 2 grandsons. All of whom he loved tremendously. He had found true love with his soulmate and enjoyed not quite 4 years of adventures, love, and laughter. Shawn had a huge heart and was always the first person to offer help when someone needed it. He made friends everywhere he went and had so many people he adopted into his family; nephews, nieces, brothers, and sisters. If he loved you, you were family. It warms my heart to know that he continued to help others even after he was gone. I love you so much, Shawn. You will be missed dearly. Thank you for sharing your life with all of us and continuing to do so when you left. RIH

Cory was taken much to young, at 38 with a 4-year son and wife. He was a hard worker and family man who enjoyed his weekend trips of adventure with his family. We did not know he was a donor, but it gives us great comfort to know that his life was not wasted and his wishes to help others was carried out.

Chris was always there for everyone else. That did not change with his unexpected death at 45 years old from complications of high blood pressure (the silent killer). Knowing that your death was not wasted and gave hope to others has also given hope to us. Life must go on even without you. Your love of Star Wars, Disney, movies, and Halloween has made these things bittersweet for those of us left behind. But knowing your life force is still alive helping someone have a better life gives us hope that we will survive the loss of your smile and daily escapades. Sleep well and May the Force be with you.

Ryley was taken from us at the young age of 12 years old. He was always the first to step up and help others out, so when the option for organ and tissue donation was discussed we knew there was no other option. Now he is able to be a hero for so many. We love and miss you such much, Ryley!

Paul Thomas

Paul spent his career helping people. He was a PTA at a local office. He would light up a room with his smile and his sense of humor. Paul lived to make people laugh and help them through tough times. When he passed unexpectedly in October of this year, we didn’t know what to do. One of the hardest phone calls of my life was the call with the Community Tissue Services representative, but now I know it was one of the most important as well. Paul, in true Paul fashion, wished to continue to help people even after he was gone from this life. It was my honor to obey his wishes and I think he would be proud to know that he helped so many people with his decision to be a donor.

My sweet Bethany was only here for a very short time but she was loved immensely by everyone who had ever met her. My father, Douglas Dennison, was truly an angel on earth. At least he was my angel. He loved motorcycles, dirt tracks, late models, and he LOVED his job as a heavy equipment operator. He was passionate about driving semis as he did with his late father from the young age of 5. He was a loving father of 3 children and 5 grandchildren who he saw every day! He was the glue that held our family together. He was proud of his father for donating everything and made it very clear from the time I was young he wanted to donate everything he could. “Give them everything and send me on my way” he used to say. Our world is so dull without him, but we are praying he brings joy to families that need hope!

My son, Kaleb was killed 20 days after his 20th birthday. We learned that Organ Donation is much more than just the big stuff! Stone was a kind, loving, caring 20 year old with a warm soul. We lost Stone on March 7, 2021. He loved his family & friends and was always ready to help out a stranger in need. He was an awesome big brother to his 10 year old sister and 16 year old brother. They both thought the world of Stone and his little sister always looked forward to when Stone would be home from college. He loved sports and watching Ohio State football with his family and friends. He was also into being healthy and physically fit. He would be happy to know that he had a chance to help others have a better quality of life. He is forever loved & missed. We all treasure the time we were blessed with him.
