I needed a tissue transplant after my initial knee reconstruction surgery failed. My tissue donation was transported from America all the way over to Scotland, UK. Within 4 weeks of having my transplant surgery, my life has been turned upside down. I have gotten my independence back and can live without being in fear of constant injury. I have a joint hypermobility condition and have suffered from frequent and painful knee dislocations over the last 12 years. Before my transplant, I spent 9 months on crutches, was unable to leave the house myself, and was also unable to work due to my injury.

I am extremely grateful to my donor and their family for donating their tissue, it is all thanks to them that I now have the opportunity to live my life to the fullest. I never knew that tissue donation existed until it was my only solution to recovering, it truly has saved me.
