I have always been listed as a donor. My mentality has been that my death will not be in vain and I will save someone else’s life bringing joy and hope. Never in a million years did I think, I would be a recipient first.

I’m an active mother of four. I’m mindful of what I do and put into my body. I’m spontaneous and I love the outdoors. I enjoy long walks, bike rides, hikes, dancing, weightlifting, etc. For work, I’m a school nurse and I’m required to run out on emergencies.

I had a bike riding accident and tore my ACL. My life was immediately put on hold. I couldn’t be a reliable employee. I couldn’t walk, couldn’t dance. No more bike rides with the kids no more fun mom. I was distraught. I decided to go through with surgery and was offered a donor graft for my ACL reconstruction. I’m so grateful, I am recovering quickly and look forward to many more adventures.
