I have always known about tissue donation but never dreamed I would have needed it. I was diagnosed with avascular necrosis of the left tibia. This caused me chronic pain with walking or any movement. The condition was so bad, doctors thought I might lose the bone and need a total knee replacement. However, I was able to have surgery using donated tissue.
Now, after my tissue transplant, I have no more pain. I finally have full use of my left leg and have a significantly better quality of life.
To my donor family: God bless you and thank you for this great gift. It has given me more mobility and a hopeful outlook on life, and I am so grateful.
