I appreciate my tissue donor’s selflessness and generosity, in giving of themselves for the benefit of my healing.

Some people tear their ACL doing something fun, like skiing or playing basketball. I was riding my bike home from work (a new habit I’d been cultivating), and I was hit by a car turning right at a stoplight.

I’d like to think my personality is more than riding bicycles, but it’s been roughly 2 months since I’ve been able to meaningfully ride one and it’s blown a gaping hole in my life.

I am so glad to have gotten my ACL surgery taken care of, courtesy of this donor ligament, both they and I will have second life.

I hope to learn the name of my donor, so I may think of them fondly when I start to live anew.
