I grew up in a small town in Colorado where I spent the last 18 years of my life. At the age of 8, I discovered my passion for dance and aerial acrobatics, which I continued through my senior year. Throughout high school, I struggled with constant shoulder pain and multiple dislocations which led to many doctor’s appointments and ER visits. My doctor discovered that I was missing 15% of the bone in my right shoulder which was causing the dislocations. He than introduced a surgery called an allograft bone block procedure which requires donor bone. Since it’s a major surgery and a long recovery, I scheduled the surgery for Christmas break. The surgery was very successful and, according to my doctor, that because of this extremely generous donation I can, one day, return to dance and pursue the passion I love. I no longer have to live with the constant pain, stress, and anxiety that it was going to dislocate with any sudden movement. This donation and surgery changed my life, and because of it I can go back to the things I love happier, and stress free. I will forever be eternally grateful. God bless the donor and their family; I appreciate this gesture and it has improved my quality of life in so many ways.
