Because of a fall early last year, I tore my left knee ACL which left my knee very unstable. Any side to side motion felt as if my knee was about to collapse.
As a nurse, I was well aware of tissue donation. In fact, I have worked with donor families and organ and tissue procurement organizations.
To repair my ACL tear, the surgeon reconstructed it using a donated tendon.
After a period of recovery and physical therapy, I regained both strength and stability. I recently went skiing with family in the Colorado mountains! It was wonderful!
My knee felt perfect. I was so joyful to be out there.
With everyday activities, like walking or going up stairs, I feel strong and steady.
I would like to give my thanks to the family of my donor. Their generosity is appreciated.
